W5 Reimagined

The world is changing and so are we. After 20 years as one of Northern Ireland’s favourite family destinations, W5 has been completely reimagined with a major £5 million investment.

W5 is a Science Centre in Northern Ireland. As part of a huge redevelopment, eight new exhibition zones were created. Each zone provides a unique experience as well as fantastic fun for visitors. As a hands-on Science Centre, it was important that visitors were given the chance to play; whether turning a hand crank to flood a natural environment, or building their own soundtrack for a horror film, it was key that a sense of intrigue was created.

“The F1 car projection was used to show comparisons between Formula 1
and Formula E; the electric version of the sport. From showing how the powertrain works on the body of an Formula 1 car, to illustrating the differences in aerodynamics between the two.

People are immediately drawn to the car, as soon as they enter the exhibit. Using projection mapping allowed us to sell the difference between Formula 1 and Formula E – actually on the car itself; allowing us to play in a way we wouldn’t normally get to.”
